Verisign and MD5

It's been interesting to see social media in action recently with Verisign. There's been a lot of publicity around an algorithim, MD5, that was used to secure some of their security certificates. For example, Wired had an article on how it was cracked using a cluster of Play Station 3's.
I know a couple of people involved - I've met Tim Callan at conferences. He's done a nice job responding on their blog, and Karen Snyder's been responding to a lot of Twitter comments.
