Twin Tech III

Some quick thoughts from attending Twin Tech III tonight:

Great turnout - I ran into a lot of folks I know from the DC new media scene
Tiny nametags - definitely something to work on for next time...squinting to try and see if someone had a company name was borderline socially uncomfortable.
Live Twitter feed - I loved the live Twitter feed, and would mention the name of the company that sponsored it if I could remember it.
Music - not sure if it's even necessary, given everyone was there to chat.
Mix of people - lots of service providers, lots of people running their own sites, and a decent number of people job hunting.

Microsoft Surface

One thing I didn't mention from the recent NRF show, is Microsoft Surface. Some fascinating demonstrations of use in either a snowboard shop, designing graphics, or in a music store. Very neat...it'd be fun to see what else they can do.

Slap Chop

Harry Joiner has a good post up about video resumes using the Slap Chop infomercial as an example. I just saw the Slap Chop commercial this past week, and would highly recommend watching it.

Verisign and MD5

It's been interesting to see social media in action recently with Verisign. There's been a lot of publicity around an algorithim, MD5, that was used to secure some of their security certificates. For example, Wired had an article on how it was cracked using a cluster of Play Station 3's.
I know a couple of people involved - I've met Tim Callan at conferences. He's done a nice job responding on their blog, and Karen Snyder's been responding to a lot of Twitter comments.
